About PDXPERTS
PDXPERTS began as a one-woman operation when Cortney founded the company in March 2016, managing a small group of clients entirely on her own.
Over the years, she collaborated with contractors, but it wasn’t until May 2020 that she hired her first full-time employee. In January 2021, PDXPERTS made the shift to working exclusively with Jane App users, allowing the team to refine their expertise, create streamlined workflows, and (inevitably) build countless spreadsheets to support their growing operations.
Today, PDXPERTS has grown into a tight-knit team of seven dedicated professionals who not only understand the complexities of medical billing but genuinely enjoy the work.
Spanning from the Pacific Northwest to the heart of Texas, the team is always ready to tackle the challenges of working with insurance on behalf of their clients. As the company expanded, so did its systems—transitioning from a sea of spreadsheets to a custom-built Salesforce CRM, designed to enhance efficiency and take client service to the next level.

We are members of the American Medical Billing Association and keep up with our annual CEU requirements to stay up to date and informed on industry changes and regulations.
Cortney, founder of PDXPERTs, is also a Certified Medical Reimbursement Specialist with the American Medical Billing Association and maintains her annual required continuing education in the medical billing field.
About Cortney, founder of PDXPERTS
Cortney has 14 years of experience in medical billing, but 25 years of experience in owning businesses. She started her first business when she was only 15 years old, getting chauffeured to client’s homes by her mom, where she worked as an animal communicator and taught animal handling. At 19, Cortney graduated from a massage college in Tempe Arizona and began her healthcare career working a chiropractic office in downtown Phoenix, serving mostly civil servants such as firefighters, police officers and detectives, and City of Phoenix employees. After moving to Portland Oregon in 2005, Cortney continued her massage therapy career, always working alongside doctors and running her private practice on the side. She picked up several certifications along the way, including life coaching and business coaching, and she became a Kundalini Yoga and Meditation teacher.
While working as a massage therapist in a multi-disciplinary chiropractic clinic, Cortney had the opportunity to learn from their medical biller and found that she liked the challenge and problem-solving aspects of the field. When she retired from massage, it was a natural transition into medical billing having spent so many years in the medical field and learning on the job. In March of 2016, PDXPERT Medical Billing was born!
Drawing from her upbringing by a nuclear engineer, she understood the importance of translating complex languages into accessible knowledge. Her mission is to bridge the gap between healthcare and business, providing healthcare providers with the tools they need to succeed from day one and easing their transition from clinical practice to business management.
Born into a Navy family in Newport News, Virginia, and raised in Arizona, Cortney has spent the last 20 years in Portland, Oregon, before settling down with her husband, son, and dog. In her free time, she enjoys singing, dancing, and spending time with her family.
